Press On

i’ve been restless lately,
flitting from here to there,
pausing only briefly.
i like to stay busy,
but not at the expense of relationships.
i haven’t so much as read a poem in two weeks,
let alone composed one.
this constant busyness worries me,
causes my heart to skip,
my mouth to dry up.
two months and we’ll be gone,
graduated and on our way out,
bound for whatever, whoever, wherever.
i know i’ll miss them all–
i already do–
but i don’t have time to think about that.
i simply have to
press on.
